Williamsburg Trip
This past weekend we drove down to Williamsburg. The primary purpose of the trip was so that several outfits Dree had made from patterns made by an independent business woman in the business of, well, making pattern could be photographed for a catalog. I took Friday off so we could try to make a weekend of it. I’ve posted all the pictures I took, click the photos link.
The boys did very, very well with the drive in both directions, despite the congestion on the way back on Sunday. It was just the three of us, Friday evening and Saturday morning. We stayed at a relatively new hotel down behind the historic area which thankfully had some nice family friendly facilities.
We played on the playground Friday night and ate at the on-sit restaurant, after. The food was good, especially the pizza, but it was crowded and loud. Every table had a kid under ten, I’m sure. Saturday, I took the boys to the historic area. The weather was cool but overcast and it was even drizzling a little when we caught the bus. Thankfully, the rain did not last.
Understandably, the boys pooped out a bit after lunch. We had a treat of root beer, sparkling lemonade and ginger cookies for Calum and me and an apple for Liam. The infusion of sugar helped them get through until Dree showed up in time to catch the carriage ride with us.
That night, we went to Christiana Campbell’s Tavern for dinner. It was very, very good and despite not having naps, the boys did very well. They did splash in the pool after we got back and before we went to the tavern, so no doubt that perked them up.
For a three day trip, it was not bad. All things being equal, we’d still have rather taken an extra day and not had to split our time between vacation and something else.
